But before I get to the stunning money part, I want to refresh your memory of the classic by Dale Carnegie – I am sure you have seen this title before! Carnegie says we should focus on becoming really interested in other people and show that we genuinely care about them.

“How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie is a self-help book offering practical advice on enhancing relationships and interactions with others. The book is structured into various sections, each addressing different aspects of social skills and human behaviour, all of which remain highly relevant today.

Some of the key principles from the book that you should keep in mind include:

  • 1. The Power of a Smile and a Name: Carnegie emphasises the importance of smiling and remembering people’s names as a way to make them feel valued and respected.
  • 2. Show Genuine Interest in Others: He suggests that to make friends and influence people, you should show a genuine interest in others and listen to what they have to say.
  • 3. Avoid Criticism and Condemnation: Carnegie advises against criticising or condemning others, which can lead to resentment and conflict.
  • 4. Give Honest and Sincere Appreciation: He suggests that expressing honest and sincere appreciation for others’ efforts and qualities can strengthen relationships.
  • 5. Arouse in the Other Person an Eager Want: Carnegie argues that to influence others, you should focus on what they want and find ways to help them achieve it.
  • 6. Become genuinely interested in others: Carnegie suggests that showing a genuine interest in others can help you build strong relationships and influence them positively.

Overall, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” provides timeless advice on building positive relationships and improving communication skills in both personal and professional settings.

But, what about using money to make friends?
